Purpose of Course: Close Quarter Combat Pistol has been developed for the purpose improving skills and tactics of officers who become engaged in a dynamic critical incident involving the potential for deadly force.
Course Description: This course has been designed to train law enforcement officers to increase firearms skills proficiency and defensive accuracy.
In order to achieve these goals, focus will be specifically placed upon working with the body’s natural reactions and kinesthetic alignment to establish a solid shooting platform, development of muscle memory to ensure a consistent response to a threat, and techniques to ensure a smooth trigger pull.
Class topics include understanding the balance of speed and precision in combat shooting, determining when to employ intuitive sighted or unsighted fire, and moving offline from the attack (getting off the “x”). Students will engage in cognitive drills to support decision making and target discrimination.
The course will begin with a review of relevant laws and case precedents to ensure proper decision making in dynamic critical events. Although there is no requisite physical standard, endurance and stamina are an asset. This course requires moderate physical activity and students will be exposed to typical firearms training activity, to include repetitive shooting drills and related movement.
