Defensive Shooting Fundamentals (DSF) Level 1 provides training in specific, tested methods of armed self-defense. This course addresses stance, grip, and physical shooting technique to improve your defensive firearms skills. Students learn about the body’s natural reactions to a critical event (Startle Flinch Response) and how to respond in an efficient and effective manner. DFS Level 1 centers on intuitive sighted and unsighted fire and understanding the balance of speed and precision in defensive handgun utilization. Students learn to apply this information simply and effectively - regardless of skill level.
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals (DSF) Level 2 builds on the skills introduced in DSF Level 1. This course includes additional shooting drills and practical exercises to guide the serious defensive shooter through the necessary skill-building drills and techniques that will provide skills necessary to prevail in a critical encounter.
“The startle-flinch response deploys like a biological airbag, expanding in a sudden incident to create space between you and the danger.
The human brain and neuroscience can play a huge role in your training and subsequently your safety... you should learn more about how physiology, fear and physics can play a huge role in how you navigate violence.
When a violent stimulus is introduced too quickly the body’s survival system hijacks executive function. The typical psychological response is to protect the head and then push away danger. Fingers are splayed if the hands are empty and the forearms are outside ninety degrees from the elbow.” - Tony Blauer
